Frequently Asked Questions

What makes Stars so special?

Stars is a wonderful place for a child to learn growth skills and exercise their mind and body through fun and physical challenges. Stars welcomes all who come to enjoy dance, cheer or gymnastics either recreationally or competitively. There is so much to do, so please inquire and try a class. You and your child will enjoy what we have to offer and the life skills learned here will live in your child forever.

How old must my child be to be a Star's student?

Stars offers classes for children ages 12 months through adult.

Can we try a class before we enroll?

Absolutely! Stars offers a "no obligation" trial class to all new students. This means if your child tries a class and decides not to enroll, you will not be charged for the class. If you do enroll the trial class will be included in the tuition for the current month.

Does Stars offer birthday parties?

YES! And are the ever FUN! Our birthday parties take place on the weekends and include 90 minutes of fun and celebration that your child and his or her friends will remember for a very long time. We have several "theme" parties also. AND - we now have an inflatable castle that can be added on to any birthday package.

What is the difference between "recreational" and "competitive" classes?

Recreational students usually take less hours of instruction and focus mostly on learning the basics or improving on the skills they already know. They perform at recital in April and a few others times a year. Competitive students practice more hours and learn a routine that is intended strictly for competition. They will also have the opportunity to perform their routine in recital and local events.

What commitment should I expect if I join a competitive team?

Team is a year round commitment and tuition is for 12 months. There are other expenses such as uniforms, costumes, entry fees, etc. students are required to practice more often. Parents will need to assist when an event is hosted by Stars.

What are the different travel requirements for teams?

Team travels are as follows:

Gymnastics - The team will compete in meets in Arkansas beginning in October and ending in March. We sometimes attend one meet in Shreveport (optional). Team members are not required to participate in every meet offered.

Cheer - The team will compete in 7-9 meets in Arkansas. We have, in the past competed in Shreveport and Dallas but this would be a total team parent decision BEFORE it is planned. All members are required to attend every competition.

Dance - Teams will compete in approximately 5-6 competitions in Arkansas. You must compete on a team to compete individually.

What are the methods of communication between the studio/gym and the parents?

The new website, www.starsdancecherandgymnastics.com is updated often and you can find new information here. You can also e-mail us from this site with questions. Flyers are given out in class and posted on the information bulletin board. A monthly newsletter will be included with your monthly statement and will be available in the file located at the front of each studio no later than the first week of each month.

What is a snack card?

Pre-paid cards that are filed at the front desk for students to use when purchasing snacks and drinks. Snacks and drinks can not be added to student's accounts so please check the balance on your student's card periodically.
